I tried to get a tech job, but couldn't

Hi,

My new song, All of this Fuss is about quitting. Around this time a year ago I was freaking out. Studio work was scarce and I really started thinking about throwing in the towel. I started refining my resume and got some coaching from friends working tech and agency jobs. I joke that all these years in music has rendered me unemployable, but my friends said I just needed to “tell a convincing story” with my resume. They assured me I had the necessary soft skills to land a career in tech. It might have worked if I would have committed everything to switching careers, but in the end there were a few reasons why I opted not to pursue entry-level jobs in a new industry in my mid-thirties. I'll spare you the details for now.

I know for a fact I'm not alone, and some of you could be asking similar questions. What's all this fuss about? Maybe I should give up and just try something else.

Maybe…or maybe we stick it out a little while longer.

So here I am a year later, in Nashville living the…dream? It feels almost the same in some ways, but now I'm 500 miles from my hometown and pushing even harder at music than ever before. I'll be honest, I don't know if it's going to work, but I'm going to keep trying until I'm sure.

I'd love to hear your stories. Stories of struggle, victory, and defeat. Hit reply and let me know. I'll respond. Hope you enjoy the new song. One more next week and then I'll take a week or so to make sure the next batch is ready. Hope to hear from you.

xoxo

Kevin
