I'd go hungry, I'd go black and blue

Howdy,

My version of Bob Dylan's ‘Make You Feel My Love’ is out today. I was in between projects a few weeks ago when I decided to press record on the first song that came to my mind. I remembered my affinity for the Adele-made-famous-Bob-Dylan tune, so I went in without a plan or even a metronome. It's just me and a guitar. I decided I would finish the mix and release it.

It's rare to be confronted by a song every time you hear it. Dylan says, “No there's nothing that I wouldn't do, to make you feel my love.” Songwriters are great at making bold statements to croon from stage, but in the mundane, or when the rubber meets the road, I sometimes find myself indifferent to the songs I sang last night. It's not that I don't mean it; I just don't always feel it.

But there is something sacred and powerful about words and vows that we make.

I mean sacred in the truest sense. Words aren't just sound waves that dissipate without consequence. I think words carry something. Ancient wisdom says “Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it will eat it's fruits” Proverbs 18:21. So when I hear “Make You Feel My Love” I have to ask myself: Is there really no limit to what I would do to make my wife and kids feel my love?

I will continue to try and try again. I will stay and not go. I'll say sorry when I need to and probably sometimes when I don't. I'll learn from the love that's been given to me, and love with that love.

Most of my listeners are around my age or a little older, with families of their own. I hope this song reminds you of the promises you've made to the ones you love, and that in some small way it helps you keep loving more deeply. - Kevin

I believe in trying. I'll never leave you hanging

I wanna see you thriving, like a river running wild and free.
